A Texas Non-Profit Receives A Grant to Review Old Cases in Dallas County

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News)- Some old criminal cases in Dallas County may get a second look after a grant from the Texas Bar Association.

The $25,000 grant was awarded this month, to the Innocence Project of Texas, a-non profit based in Fort Worth, that provides legal and investigative services to those who have been wrongfully convicted.

The money will be used to look at cases from the 1980’s & 1990’s alongside Dallas County’s Conviction Integrity Unit. The goal is to provide the county with expertise on which cases might merit DNA testing and free legal representation before the evidence is destroyed by the Dallas County District Clerk according to law.
