(WBAP/KLIF) – Senator John Cornyn says what happened to President Donald Trump as a candidate and while in office is unprecedented.
Cornyn’s comments came just hours after comments at the White House Wednesday where President Trump claimed what led to the start of the special counsel probe was treasonous.
Senator Cornyn stopping short of agreeing with that exact terminology.
“I can’t characterize, from a legal standpoint, what the president referred to. I’ll just await the investigation and public disclosure,” Cornyn said. “Then we can have a conversation about what conclusions to draw from that.”
Cornyn says it is clear to him there were people determined to take out candidate Trump and then President Trump.
Attorney General William Barr told lawmakers this week he is looking into the conduct.
