DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — Southwest Airlines and several others experienced a technological problem that caused flights nationwide to be grounded temporarily.
According to Southwest, the ground stop lasted about 40 minutes due to an outage with a vendor that services multiple carriers with data used in flight planning.
“Scattered flight delays are anticipated,” Southwest said in a statement, also suggesting to check its website for updated flight information. “We’re working with customers on any impacts to their travel plans and we appreciate their understanding as we place nothing higher than safe operation of every flight.”
Southwest, Delta, United, JetBlue, and Alaska Airlines were responding to concerned passengers on social media throughout the morning.
FlightAware was reporting about three dozen flight delays out of Dallas Love Field as of 7:00 Monday morning. DFW International Airport had 22 at the same time.
