Congress Investigating Texas Secretary of State’s Review of Voter Rolls

(WBAP/KLIF) – Congress is now investigating the Texas Secretary of State’s review of voter rolls for supposed non U.S. citizens.

The U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Reform sent a letter to Secretary of State David whitley saying the committee is “disturbed by reports that his office took steps to remove thousands of eligible voters from the rolls in Texas.”
Whitley announced earlier this year that state officials had identified tens of thousands of registered voters who may not be eligible to vote. It was later found that the data was flawed.

The U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Reform released the below statement on its investigation:

Recent efforts by the Texas Secretary of State’s office to purge voter rolls following an advisory from Acting Secretary of State Whitley that claimed that approximately 95,000 registered voters may not be U.S. citizens—after which numerous problems were identified with the advisory’s data, and a federal court stopped several counties from taking action based on the advisory, concluding that it “created a mess” and was “a solution looking for a problem.”
