AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF) – The life of the Richardson Police Officer killed in the line of a duty last year was honored Wednesday by lawmakers in Austin.
Officer David Sherrard was shot and killed while responding to a disturbance call in 2018. He later died at a local hospital. Wednesday, Representative Jeff Leach of Plano spoke on the floor of the House of Representatives about the Officer’s ultimate sacrifice.
“Officer Sherrard left behind a beautiful family,” said Rep. Leach. “Prior to [his] tragic death, he served faithfully in the Richardson Police Department for 13 years, where he served on the SWAT team for over a decade.”
Leach recognized Richardson Police Chief Jimmy Spivey and Officer Sherrard’s widow Nicole, who were both in attendance. Legislators passed House Resolution 114 in honor of Officer Sherrard.
