RICHARDSON (WBAP/KLIF)- The Dallas County District Attorney’s office is dropping charges against Sini Mathews, the adoptive mother of Sherin Mathews who was found dead in a Richardson Culvert in 2017.
Mathews had been charged after prosecutors said she and her husband left their daughter, home alone and two weeks later her body was found in a drain pipe near their home in Richardson.
The DA’s Office said there was not enough evidence to proceed with allegations and try Mathews for a murder case.
The Richardson Police Department released a statement saying “While we are disappointed with this turn of events, we will continue to work with the DA’S office to ensure justice is done.”

Sini’s husband, Wesley Mathews still faces a capital murder charge, injury to a child, tampering with evidence and abandonment in connection to Sherin’s death. He remains in jail with a $1 million bond his trial is set for May.
