DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Military veteran entrepreneurs are in Dallas this week in an effort to grow their businesses.
The ‘Edge’ conference hosted by ‘Institute of Military Veterans and Families’ at Syracuse University is the largest gathering of veterans business owners, supporters, stakeholders, VIPS, influencers and CEO’s from the fastest-growing veteran-owned businesses in the country.
“We’re in Texas because it is very veteran friendly,” said IMVF CEO, Maureen Casey. “From the Governor to the City of Dallas there is a lot of corporate support. There are a lot of veterans who choose Texans as their home.”
During the four day event, Inc. magazine and IVMF will celebrate the second annual Vet50 list-a compilation of the nation’s fastest growing veteran-owned businesses.
According to the Small Business Administration veterans are the most successful business owners in America, but the number of veterans choosing to go into business for themselves has declined since 2005, and sustainability as an entrepreneur is a critical part of the formula anyone considering entrepreneurship must face. Currently there are over 2.5 million veteran-owned businesses which employ over 5 million U.S. citizens.
According to the institute, Texas has the second largest population of veteran-owned businesses in the country, behind California.
