AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF) – Texas lawmakers paid tribute Wednesday to the Dallas girl killed in last year’s natural gas home explosion.
Linda “Michellita” Rogers was getting ready for the day when the explosion destroyed her family’s Northwest Dallas home and took her life. State Representative Rafael Anchia honored the girl on the House floor a year after her death. State Lawmakers were asked to wear purple ribbons in Linda’s honor. Her family joined Anchia on the House floor as a Memorial Resolution was passed in her name.
“She is alive in the hearts of her family and she is alive in every corner of this capitol,” said Anchia to his colleagues. “Her spirit and her inspiration when you put this ribbon on your chest will be alive within you as well.”
Anchia is sponsoring legislation that calls for more oversight of Atmos Energy and requires old pipelines to be replaced.
