UPDATE 6:33 PM – Officials say no survivors are likely. Search for black box now underway with dive teams. Witnesses report hearing sounds like lightening just before they saw the big plane nose dive into the waters that run from zero to five feet deep. Debris field estimated 3/4 of a mile long. Investigation underway by FAA.
CHAMBERS COUNTY – WBAP/KLIF – No sign of survivors; Chambers County Sheriff’s Office confirms a cargo plane out of Miami went down near Anahuac just before 12:45 pm. Officials say there’s little intact of that plane, now located; much debris floating on the water.
The FAA issued an alert on Atlas Air Fight 3591 after losing radar and radio contact with the plane approximately 30 miles southeast of Bush Intercontinental Airport. The plane went down just north of Galveston Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.
