SOUTHLAKE (WBAP/KLIF News) – Parents of Carroll ISD students in the grades 7 through 12 can agree to allow their kids to undergo drug tests on campus.
After years of consideration and public discussion, the district’s two-year pilot program will go into effect after Spring Break at four middle and high school campuses.
Under the agreement, the district will test kids for ten different types of drugs randomly and only 10 percent of students enrolled in the program will be tested.
The district said students who test positive won’t be disciplined but will instead meet with their parents and drug counselors to help the kids through the issue.
On Wednesday night, parents attended to the first of two open meetings to give them information about the voluntary program.
