Ruthie’s Rolling Cafe is offering free grilled cheese sandwiches as part of it’s “Operation Feed the Feds” program.
On Tuesday, the Secret Service and CIA in Irving will be served.
Ruthie’s Ashley Klienart said they’ve worked out a schedule to make sure they reach as many federal workers as possible.
“We’re going to rotate and go to different buildings and make sure we get around town to different places to where these workers may be. If they’re furloughed, they’re welcome to come around as well” she said.
The shutdown is currently in its 32nd day with both Republicans and Democrats digging their heels in over President Trump’s demand for $5.7 billion for the wall.
Klienart said the uncertain timeline doesn’t concern her or her partners, they just want to lend a helping hand.
“Our partners, Lyda Hill Philanthropies…we’ve been talking and the operation is indefinite. We’ll see how long it takes and it’s pretty easy for us to do with us being a food truck,” she said.
Federal workers need to bring proof of employment to get the free sandwich.
