DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – State Representative Eric Johnson is the latest candidate to enter the mayor’s race in Dallas.
Johnson is the chair of the Dallas Area Legislative Delegation and has represented Dallas in the legislature since 2010. He has named former Dallas Cowboy Ring of Honor member Mel Renfro as his campaign treasurer.
Johnson says he can “offer the citizens of Dallas a unique combination of experience, energy, and creativity when it comes to solving problems.” He was recently in the news for being behind the push to remove confederate plaques from the state capitol. Johnson says he will not step down from his current position to run for mayor.
Mayor Mike Rawlings can’t run because of term limits.
