Air Traffic Controllers Growing Frustrated as Partial Shutdown Continues

(WBAP/KLIF) – A growing number of air traffic controllers in North Texas are voicing frustrations as the partial government shutdown continues.

Thousands of air traffic controllers are furloughed and thousands more are working without pay.

“You’re talking about one of the most stressful jobs, in the world,” said air traffic controller Nick Daniels.

Daniels believes the shutdown is forcing routine training sessions and seminars to be canceled.

“We are absolutely not operating at full capacity or ability,” Daniels said.

Daniels fears the public’s safety is being compromised during the shutdown. The National Air Traffic Controller’s Association is urging union members to contact their local Congress men and women to demand the shutdown end.

The association is urging all air traffic controller’s to post a generic image on social media encouraging lawmakers to act quickly.
