AUSTIN, Texas (AP) – A six-story parking garage in Austin has been imploded to make way for a student housing project near the University of Texas.
The Austin Fire Department tweeted that demolition crews on Sunday morning brought down the parking garage in a matter of minutes.
Barriers were put up for several blocks in the business area known as West Campus. Black tarps helped control debris from spreading and also protected nearly structures.
Officials plan to build a 2,000-bed student housing complex at the site.
