(WBAP/KLIF)- The project to expand Sam Rayburn Tollway is underway. The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) will be adding a fourth lane in each direction of the entire 26-mile Tollway from Coppell to US 75 in McKinney. Michael Rey with NTTA said with more and more people moving to North Texas, the expansion is vital. “Depending on who you listen to it’s 3 people a minute and they’re bringing their cars so this is a way to make it easier for people to travel and get places on time,” Rey said. The new lanes will be constructed in the median of the existing tollway main lanes. Construction is anticipated to be complete in 2021.
