Mesquite Police Asking for the Public’s Help Identifying a Person of Interest in Apparent Murder

MESQUITE (WBAP/KLIF) – The Mesquite Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a person of interest in the shooting death of a 50-year-old man during an apparent burglary.

Police say Officers responded to a shooting call Thursday in the 2600 block of Larchmont Drive and found Raul Garcia-Torres with a gunshot wound in the driveway area of a residence. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he later died as a result of his wounds. Police believe Garcia-Torres was confronted by an assailant in an apparent robbery attempt.

“About an hour later the victim’s credit card was used at a Foot Locker in Dallas,” Sgt. Mike Parker said.

Surveillance video from the store captured the image of the man believed to be using Garcia-Torres’ credit card. He is described as having a thin build, light to medium complexion, wearing a black Lucille Ball hooded sweatshirt.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information called into Crime Stoppers that leads to the arrest and indictment in the case.
