Overnight 911 Outage Affected Several North Texas Counties

UPDATED 9:50 PM Friday –

Allen Police say 9-1-1 service is now restored to area residents.   Several areas of North Texas were still struggling with pockets of areas in which 91-1- service did not work.  Counties affected included Collin, Ellis, Johnson, Erath, Hood, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell and Wise for portions during Friday.   Officials are blaming problems nationwide on issues with Centurlink.

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — An eight hour 911 outage in North Texas was fixed early Friday morning.

The outage began around 10:30 Thursday night and was fixed around 6:20 Friday morning. It knocked out 911 service to most North Texas counties, with the exception of Dallas, Tarrant, and Denton.

No word on the exact cause, other than Century Link engineers pointing to a “network element” issue.

While the lines were down, folks were told to call local police lines for emergencies.
