Out With the Old Christmas Trees in With the New Year

Provided by WFAA TV

Do you need to throw out your live Christmas tree? The City of Plano has you covered. Plano is offering an environmentally friendly way to get rid of your tree. Steve Funk with the City’s Environmental Waste Service and Collection program said all you need to do is drop off your tree at the four designated locations and your tree will be recycled into mulch and compost. “We definitely don’t want that organic material to go to the landfill so by offering this service, it guarantees the tree will be recycled correctly,” Funk said. Drop off your trees at  Jack Carter Park, Old Shepard Place Park, Russell Creek Park and Schell Park from December 26th to January 2nd. Don’t forget to remove all ornaments, lights and tinsel!
