HUNT COUNTY – WBAP/KLIF – 5 rescues of people from vehicles caught in unexpected flooding overnight; 2 more this morning. First responders in Hunt County have successfully saved several people from rising floodwaters on roads through the region, spurred by flooded pastures spilling over onto roads. North Texas waters continue to rise near waterways, and the rain from last night is still moving downstream, due to cause dangers until it makes it’s way out of the area entirely. National Weather Service has posted a flood warning, effective through 10 pm Friday night.
Hunt County’s Sgt. Jeff Haines reminds people that flooding of county roads is happening now with runoff from flooded, flat pastures. Drivers are cautioned to pay close attention to road conditions; flooding can occur with little warning and as he says, on flat terrain, away from normal waterways as well.
