Proposed Legislation Pays Tribute to Fallen North Texas Police Officer

RICHARDSON (WBAP/KLIF) – A portion of a North Texas Highway could soon be named after a local hero.

A proposal to rename part of Central Expressway after the first Richardson Police Officer killed in the line of duty will be considered by lawmakers in the upcoming legislative session in Austin.
Officer David Sherrard was shot to death in February while responding to a disturbance at an apartment complex.
Representative Jeff Leach has introduced a bill that would name the stretch of Highway 75 between I-635 and the President George Bush Turnpike the “Officer David Sherrard Memorial Highway.”
