Did the Outgoing Dallas DA Ignore Two Police-Involved Cases for Political Reasons?

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Some observers say the outgoing Dallas DA’s inaction on two cases involving alleged police misconduct may be politically motivated, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Three Dallas police officers were indicted in the death of an unarmed, handcuffed man last year and two months ago DeSoto police dashcam revealed police officers slamming a mother to the ground and tasing her son. There has been no action on either case.

Local civil rights leader, Rev. Peter Johnson told the News that he thinks the Republican appointee, Johnson may be trying to preserve preserve support for future elections. The aforementioned cases will soon be in the hands of the newly elected Democrat, John Cruezot.

Meantime this year, Johnson won a murder conviction of a former Balch Springs officer in connection with the killing of an unarmed teen, and an indictment against former Dallas officer Amber Guyger in the Botham Jean case.
