DFW Businesses, Community Members Participate in Salvation Army Holiday Traditions

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- The Salvation Army Angel Tree program has been a Christmas tradition in the DFW Metroplex since 1984. DFW Salvation Army Commander Major Jonathan Rich said hundreds of companies support 50,000 families by providing wish list gifts. Today the PlainsCapital Bank, Hilltop Holdings, Haynes and Boone, and HFF donated over 300 gifts to the Distribution Center in a vintage Fire Truck! “It’s a 10 year tradition and we are so happy to be a part of it and giving back,” PlainsCapital Bank, Victory Park President J.J. Gomez said. Donations can also be made to give ‘need items’ like clothes and shoes, and to provide a meal for these families on Christmas.  Also, hundreds of volunteers come to the distribution center to sort out presents and make sure every family has something under their tree.

Bill Baracani has volunteered in the distribution center since 2001, he takes off 6 weeks of work to help every year. “I’m lucky I get to use my vacation days and help out to serve families in the Metroplex,” he said.
