Bush Will Be ‘Carried to His Final Resting Place’ in Gray Socks Saluting Armed Forces

Houston (WBAP/KLIF) – President George H. W. Bush was known in his later years for wearing noticeable socks.

Family spokesman Jim McGrath tweeted former President Bush “will be carried to his final rest  wearing gray socks saluting the armed forces. he says the socks pay tribute to Bush’s “lifetime of service,” which started when he was an 18-year-old naval aviator during WW II.

And, there’s a special connection to Bush’s ‘crazy socks’ and a New York man with Down Syndrome, who with his dad, owns a sock company called ‘John’s Crazy Socks.’ When John Cronin learned that the former president liked crazy socks, he sent him a pair. Over the past year and a half they’ve exchanged letters and socks, including the special pair that he requested for his wife’s funeral in April, which were a tribute to her love of books.

Bush often sported bright socks at public events, sometimes with loud and unusual patterns. Houston’s Mayor Sylvester Turner hosted an event at city hall encouraging people to show up wearing their own colorful socks.
