ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF)- The Big 12 Athletic Conference and the College Football Playoff Association just completed a library makeover at Berry Elementary School, one of the oldest elementary schools in the Arlington ISD. Bob Bowlsby Commissioner of the Big 12 says they do this in different cities where they have major championships. “The carpet is new, the tables and chairs are new, logos are new, and the audio visual center is new,” Bowlsby said.
The project was made possible by a $70,000 grant as part of the Extra Yard for Teachers initiative. Students at Berry Elementary School were surprised with the changes.
Sta’shaun Wesley is a 4th grader, he said the library used to be dark with not a lot to do. “The moment I walked in here I was like man I’m going to have fun for the rest of the year…checking out books and having a good time,” Wesley said.
