DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — As members of the so-called migrant caravan are continuing to arrive at the U.S.- Mexico border in Texas some of the federal troops sent there will soon be going home.
Army Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Buchanan, who commands the deployment, told Politico some of the 5,800 troops on the border will be leaving in coming days because their missions have been accomplished, including strengthening border barriers with concertina wire and barricades. He said all troops should be home for Christmas as the deployment orders end 15 December. Buchanan says he has heard nothing from the Pentagon about extending duty orders.
Some critics are suggesting that President Trump’s deployment of the troops was misuse of the military to influence the mid-term elections.
