FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- Fort Worth Fire Department reported seeing an uptick in house fires during Thanksgiving in recent years. Mike Drivdahl with the Fort Worth Police Department said this is their most demanding day because people tend to leave their food unattended and some even started to deep fry turkeys in ways that aren’t safe. “You must be in a well ventilated area when deep frying the turkey not in a garage or porch,” Drivdahl said. He said to be careful when cooking with propane fire, if you’re not in a ventilated area you could get carbon monoxide poisoning. He also said to check your oil to make sure it doesn’t spill over, and make sure your turkey is dry and not frozen before putting it in cooking oil.
