Experts Predicting Monday Night to be One of the Busiest Travel Days for North Texans

Dallas Love Field Airport

DALLAS  (WBAP/KLIF News) – The holiday travel season is now underway and experts are predicting that Monday night could be one of the busiest travel days in North Texas.

AAA Texas’ Daniel Armbruster  said people should plan on longer waits at airports and traffic jams on the roads leading to them.

He said more North Texans have been hitting the road for the holidays each year since 2010.

“This year we’re looking at nearly 4 million people that will be driving, 3.8 million if you will,  4.1 total if you count airplanes, trains and buses as well,” he said.

This man said that figure is exactly why he and his family are flying out of Dallas Love Field today and not later in the week.

“Just trying to avoid the rush really more than anything else. I mean, Wednesday is supposed to be the biggest travel day of the year,” he said.

This woman got to the airport six hours before her Monday flight and said she’s not bothered by the busy crowds.

“I enjoy people watching and I’ve got a good book. I can travel when I am not doing anything. So, I am just sitting here and I am good to go,” she said.

Others said they decided to leave at the start of Thanksgiving week for more family time.

“Well, were from Georgetown and our daughter’s up there in Oregon. So, we can get up there a little early and we can simmer down and enjoy the holiday,” he said.
