PARKER COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF)- Police say the Parker County deputy investigating an illegal deer blind last week, was actually shot by his own weapon.

The Parker County Sheriff’s Department is no longer looking for what they thought was a suspect who shot deputy Jarret Turner. Sheriff Larry Fowler said Deputy Turner was actually shot in the foot by his own backup weapon. Fowler said the weapon malfunctioned and will be sent to the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Laboratory for testing. The case is still currently under investigation.
