DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — Weather allowing, portions of two major Metroplex arteries will be closed this weekend.
I-30 in Arlington will be closed in both directions between Collins Street and the Bush Turnpike from 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Workers will spend the time removing the State Highway 360 bridge over the interstate.
The project has been on the schedule for a long time. TxDOT had to coordinate the closure with all the major entertainment venues in the area. This weekend turned out to be one of the few weekends in the year that will find Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor closed, the Texas Rangers season over and the Cowboys out of town.
Across the Metroplex just north of downtown Dallas the North Texas Tollway Authority will close the Dallas North Tollway southbound lanes between Oak Lawn Avenue and the Katy Trail. Motorists driving into the city will have to detour to Harry Hines via Oak Lawn Avenue.
The DNT closure will be in effect from 8 p.m. Friday through 8 p.m. Sunday to replace the center barrier, and resurface and restripe the pavement.
