Arlington, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – The mayor of Arlington has declared an emergency, as the city expects flooding due to erosion around the Prestonwood Lake Dam.
The dam is north of Lamar and south of Green Oaks in North Arlington.
The city says homes are unlikely to be damaged if the dam fails, but roads could flood when culverts downstream of the dam become clogged with sediment.
The heavy rains, including yesterday’s, likely played a factor into the potential failure.
Near the Prestonwood Lake Dam, an Arlington Fire truck and a couple of other city vehicles/employees are stationed. No word on when the dam could give, but city says “may be imminent,” could cause road flooding. @WBAP247NEWS @570KLIF pic.twitter.com/UZX0z6p7h3
