Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas City Council has approved a zoning change that’s intended to clear the way for a 500 foot Ferris wheel along the Trinity River south of downtown. The developers call it the Odyssey, and describe it as “an iconic, dynamic, year-round entertainment destination.” They say the wheel will be larger than the famous London Eye, and more than twice the height of the Texas Star Ferris wheel at Fair Park. Their plans include retail space, restaurants, and a 1,000 car parking garage. If they can get all the necessary government paperwork finished, and approvals signed and delivered, construction could begin in September 2019. Building the Odyssey should then take about two years.
