Fort Worth’s Race and Culture Task Force Draft Recomendations to Fix Racial Disparity in the City

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF)- At a meeting Monday night, The City of Fort Worth’s Race and Culture Task Force talked about ways they can fix problems in the city.

Task Force Co-Chair Rosa Navejar says they broke up into committees, like health, housing, economic developments and more to focus on problem areas within the city.

“We are also looking at diversity of workforce in the city; whether its police, fire or general employees, how do we better look at the people who work for the city that resemble the city,” Navejar said.

Some of the recommendations were to take a look at redistricting and racial equity plans to fix streets/add lights to low income communities.

Navejar said they want to work with the community and build trust with residents, like ending racial disparities.

“Community members want to feel safe and have their voices heard,” she said.

The Task Force will be having several community outreach events in order to get as much feedback with these recommendations before the group gives a final proposal to the city in December. For a list of recommendations and outreach events visit: https://onefortworth.org/
