Arlington Bowie Football Coach Makes Daring High Water Rescue

Arlington (WBAP/KLIF) – Arlington Bowie head football coach Danny DeArman who made a daring water rescue Saturday during flooding rains. A woman’s car had stalled out in high water the I-30 service road near Caddo Mills.

DeArman waded, then swam to the woman’s car. At one point during the current from the rushing floodwaters swept him to a culvert, but he was able to find his footing to continue the rescue.

He and another motorist broke a window of the woman’s to get the her out. DeArman carried the woman to safety on his back. According to the Dallas Morning News, DeArman said he never got the woman’s name after police arrived.

“It looked like she was in deep water, so I pulled over to make sure everything was OK, She started beating on her window and motioning that she needed help. She couldn’t open her door.”

He said that he went into survival mode, “I just did everything I could to try to get her safe. I think anybody would have done the same thing.”

DeArman was driving by after dropping his son off for a friend’s homecoming festivities at Caddo Mills High School.
