Amber Guyger Fired By Dallas Police Department

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall has fired Officer Amber Guyger following a controversial shooting earlier this month.

Guyger admits to shooting Botham Jean on September 6th, after she said she accidentally went into his apartment at the Southside at Lamar Flats thinking it was hers.

The Texas Rangers and the Dallas County District Attorney’s Officer are investigating the shooting.

In a statement, the department said an Internal Affairs investigation concluded that Guyger engaged in “adverse conducted when she was arrested for Manslaughter” September 9th.

Guyger is currently charged with manslaughter in the case, but many in the community want her to face murder charges.

Several rallies and protests have been held following the shooting.

Jean, who was from St. Lucia, moved to the United States in 2016. He worked for  the accounting firm PWC, formerly known as PricewaterhouseCoopers.

His body was flown back to St. Lucia for burial following a funeral in Dallas September 13th.

Guyger can appeal the termination.
