3 People Die in Fort Worth Vehicle Drownings

FORT WORTH – (WBAP/KLIF) – Fort Worth firefighters confirm a woman and her baby died in a ditch filled with deep floodwaters just off the northbound access road to Loop 820 near Wilbarger.  Her vehicle appears to have been swept off the access road after hitting water several feet deep, and the waters took the vehicle into a flooded ditch.  Fort Worth police were called to investigate a submerged car, and made the discovery.

Another victim, also not yet identified, is confirmed as having drowned in a vehicle near the intersection of South Cravens Road and Oakdale Drive.

As rain continues on soggy, soaked ground across North Texas, officials are reminding people of the adage “Go around, don’t drown”.  It takes just a few inches of water to lift even a heavy vehicle off it’s tires, and float it into circumstances that can quickly grow deadly.
