Several Concert-Goers Injured by Wind-Driven Falling “Temporary aall”at Winstar Casino Concert Saturday Night

THACKERVILLE, OK – (WBAP/KLIF)  As many as a dozen or more people are reported injured after strong winds following heavy rains brought down a metal arch concert-goers were huddled beneath trying to escape the bad weather Saturday night.  It happened in Thackerville, Oklahoma, at the Winstar Casino, just across the border in Thackerville, Oklahoma, about an hour’s drive from the DFW Metroplex.

Concert goer Erin Chapman of DFW tells WBAP/KLIF News she saw that metal fall on people just a few feet away; saw several concert goers on the ground – one woman holding her neck and bleeding.  Erin says ambulances and fire trucks arrived fairly quickly to treat the injured, and took some of them away by ambulance.   She says Winstar employees arrived earlier to tell them bad weather was moving in – and asked them to move.  Erin says most people did not move from the area, and instead sought shelter beneath the metal wall, or arch.   Erin says about 20 minutes after the heavy rains, strong gusty winds moved in, and that’s when the metal structure came down on people.

The concert has been rescheduled to an undetermined date and time.
