DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas-based Southwest airlines is updating its policy on service animals on flights.
If you have an Emotional Support Animal, only a dog or cat would be welcome aboard and of course you have to have a letter from a doctor. The dog or cat also must be in a carrier or on a leash.
For a Trained Service Animal, Southwest will accept only the most common being dogs cats and miniature horses.
The airline is also formally recognizing Psychiatric Support Animals that must be trained to behave in a public setting.
The airline says it wants to make the policy clear and easy to understand. The new policy goes into effect September 17th.
