PLANO (WBAP/KLIF) – A judge has ruled that a recall election involving a Plano City Councilman will not go forward.
In a statement from the city, State District Judge Mark Rusch ruled Tuesday the number of signatures on petitions calling for the recall of Councilman Tom Harrison are not enough.
The judge said he was convinced the original city charter did not include certain language that would mean the petitions did not have the appropriate number of signatures.
The City Council is now expected to vote on canceling the election Saturday.
Harrison had come under fire from the Plano mayor, and others, after an anti-Islamic post was shared on his personal Facebook page.
