Mesquite (WBAP/KLIF) – On Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 9:08 pm, the Mesquite Police Department responded to a collision involving a motor vehicle and pedestrian in the parking lot of Kwik Fuel and Food, located in the 3000 block of Big Town Blvd. The investigation revealed that the suspect vehicle backed up in the parking lot, and struck a pedestrian, causing severe injury. The suspect drove away without offering aid to the victim. Thanks to the help of a crime stopper tip the suspect was identified and arrested on Thursday August 2, 2018. The suspect was identified as Jose Luis Ortiz-Mendoza and was charged with the felony offense of Accident Involving Personal Injury or Death.
