LISTEN: Frisco ISD Taking Precautions to Keep Students Safe

FRISCO (WBAP/KLIF) – Team work and technology are behind an effort to keep students safe in Frisco.

Frisco ISD is confident in the S.A.F.E.R. program as the start of school approaches in the wake of recent school shootings. According to the school district, Situational Awareness for Emergency Response (S.A.F.E.R.) is an innovative partnership with the City of Frisco that gives police, firefighters and emergency responders live access to cameras inside and outside all Frisco ISD schools, including those in Plano, McKinney and Little Elm.

“It’s available 24/7,” said Frisco Police Lt. Mike Hagan. “Our dispatchers have it, as well as our patrol officers, and our fire department.”

Hagan told the WBAP/KLIF school safety podcast that knowing a situation before arriving on the scene can save valuable time and lives.

Lt. Hagan and Frisco I.S.D. Superintendent Mike Waldrip spoke about other safety measures the district is taking.
