Employees Parked in the Irving Parking Garage Still Without Cars

IRVING (WBAP/KLIF) – The Irving garage off Texas 114 and O’Connor Rd in Las Colinas collapsed twice on Tuesday. Employees are waiting and  still unable to get their cars back.

Ravi Venishetti works in the office building he said his car is still trapped inside. “It’s not safe, there’s nothing we can do,” Venishetti said.

The company hired private security and engineers to patrol and investigate the garage. At this point they are not allowing anyone to come in or out.

Employees say at a company meeting this morning, they were told they may get their cars on Monday after more inspection over the weekend.  For now, the company agreed to pay for everyone’s rental car and employees have to walk further to their parked cars.

The Irving Fire Department tweeted: “UPDATE-Engineers are conducting interior photo and video surveys of collapse damage utilizing drones. They plan to begin shoring the structure this weekend to make it safe enough to remove unaffected vehicles. Any approved vehicle removal would not be expected before Monday.”

The property owner will have to decide if they need to tear it down completely. Irving Fire Assistant Chief J Taylor said if they decide to rebuild, the fire department will assist and make sure it’s safe.
