Dallas Police Say Goodbye to a 32-Year Veteran of the Force

PLANO (WBAP/KLIF) – A funeral service was held Thursday for a 32-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department.

Senior Corporal Earl Jamie Givens was hit and killed by an alleged drunk driver last week while working a funeral procession. Law enforcement from across the country attended his service at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano. During the service, Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall reflected on his life.

“We’ve heard about his love,” said Chief Hall. “How he loved this profession. How he loved the Dallas Police Department. And how he loved and served this community.”
Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings and some of the Senior Corporal’s closest friends spoke during the service.

The man who was driving the vehicle that hit Senior Corporal Givens is charged with Intoxication Manslaughter.
