City of Irving Warning Residents About Fake Water Test Notices

IRVING  (WBAP/KLIF News) – Residents of Irving are getting water test notices that are not city sanctioned.

The City of Irving’s Donna Sterling said she wants people to know that they do regular water testing and to watch out for scammers.

She said the flyers that have been left could trick unsuspecting residents if they don’t read the fine print.

“Because if you don’t read carefully, you may not realize that it doesn’t have anything to do with the city or county department or anything along those lines …   although that is stated on the bottom line of the form that has been left,” said Sterling.

The city said any legitimate testing notice would include the City of Irving logo and that employees canvassing neighborhoods will have a city-issued badge and a city-issued car.

Sterling said the fake notices are most likely from “someone trying to sell some sort of water treatment system.”

Irving city officials want residents know that their water supply is protected.

“We make sure that it is always safe and that public health is protected because the water supply is important in maintaining public safety,” she said.

In a Facebook message to residents, the city also pasted a link to its water quality report. Click here for details.
