Fort Worth Considering Electric Ride-Share Scooters; Decision Could Take Months

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – The City of Fort Worth will not be following Dallas’ lead when it comes to bringing ride-share electric scooters to town.

At least, not for the time being.

The city’s Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Commission is looking into the concept, though it could be months before it presents a recommendation to the city council.

Mayor Betsy Price said the scooters aren’t safe and wouldn’t work on bike trails because of motor-free ordinances.

Lime Bike unveiled their electric scooters in Dallas earlier this month. The scooters top out at a speed of 15 miles per hour.

Multiple people have been injured in Dallas while either riding a scooter or from being hit by one.
