High School Students Compete in Solar Car Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway

Fort Worth (WBAP/ KLIF News) – The Texas triple-digit temperatures are benefiting high school students this weekend when a unique form of racing comes to Texas Motor Speedway.

29 high school teams from 14 different states will be competing in a Solar Car Challenge driving from Fort Worth to Palmdale California.

That’s over a thousand miles, powered by the sun!

Jake Young with Texas Motor Speedway says 10 of these teams are representing North Texas

The students arrive this weekend and are preparing to take this cross-country trek in the span of 7 days

They will be on their way Tuesday at 9 am.
