FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – A North Texas mayor is being considered for a worldwide honor.
Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price is among 50 mayors worldwide competing for the World Mayor Prize.
Price was recommended for consideration for the 2018 World Mayor Prize by 17 people and organizations from within and outside the United States. The 2018 short list will be published in August, with the winner of the World Mayor Prize and Commendations to be announced in late January/early February 2019.
The competition is organized every other year by City Mayors Foundation, a London-based group founded in 2004. The award recognizes mayors who have made outstanding contributions to their communities.
The 2018 award focuses on women who serve as mayors with the hope of encouraging more women to consider a career in local government and run for political office.
