DALLAS  (WBAP/KLIF News) – A patriotic mural in Deep Ellum that was painted over last month will not be restored.

The real estate group that owns the Green Room Pub, where the mural is located, said it has decided not to allow it.

Westdale Real Estate Investment and Management said it only approved the mural on the outside of the pub for 30 days and that the time is up.

According to the Facebook page Deep Ellum Neighbors, the artists Preston Pannek and Adrienne Creasey painted mural based off an award-winning photograph by Jeremy Lock.

The artists claim that no one told them about the timeline and that the mural took two months to prepare and a week to paint.

Westdale had it covered with black paint June 28th. Instead of repaying the artists to repaint it, the company said it donated a $50,000 donation to the Military Warriors Foundation, a San Antonio non-profit.

The owner of the Green Room Pub said he never agreed to have the mural painted over and that his business has taken heat on social media ever since.
