Burn Bans Issued for Several North Texas Counties

(WBAP/KLIF) – Dry conditions are prompting some North Texas counties to issue burn bans.

Outdoor burning is temporarily against the law in Tarrant, Denton, Parker, Johnson, Ellis, Wise and Hood Counties. Tarrant county Fire Marshal Randy Renois said Tuesday that lack of rain and triple digit temperatures have made the ground very dry.

“It’s a real critical condition out there,” said Renois. “A grass fire can start pretty quick.”

Burn bans prohibit anyone from emitting sparks or flames into the air. All outdoor cooking in counties under a burn ban has to be contained by a lid.

More North Texas counties could implement burn bans in coming weeks if dry conditions persist.
