Irkutsk, Russia (WBAP/KLIF) – A 27 year old Texas Tech graduate student was killed Saturday when he fell while hiking in Siberia. Architecture student Elmer Arrieta of El Paso was studying for his masters degree in Russia as part of an international program through the University of Texas. Exactly what happened to him isn’t clear. Arrieta reportedly fell during an excursion on a rugged island near the city of Irkutsk in eastern Siberia, a little north of Mongolia.
