BEDFORD (WBAP/KLIF) – A North Texas school counselor is charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Bedford Police said Thursday that 33-year-old Shannon Hathaway allegedly had a physical relationship with a ninth grader while working as a counselor at Harwood Junior high in the HEB school district during the 2016-2017 school year.
Lt. Mike Hager said the department learned of the allegations in May.
“I know that we initiated it as soon as we came into the information,” said Hager.
After an investigation, a warrant was issued and Hathaway turned herself in Wednesday morning. The school district said Hathaway was placed on administrative leave when it learned of the allegations.
